Hi all,

Just looking for advice on a paint shop that understands Landys and is willing to paint my entire '94 Defender 110. I'm doing a complete nut and bolt restoration on it. Appreciate any advice.

Cheers

Some LROC ACT members would be a good start.
Have a chat in fyshwick with some:
Series Workshop - Canberra Land Rover Mechanic (http://www.seriesworkshop.com.au)

What colour are you going for?

Hi mate, the workshop is only new and I don't think they are geared up for body restorations just yet. One of the owners works in the same loc as you - I'll PM you his name. Perhaps have a chat with him over a coffee ?

You could also google 'car restoration canberra' and you'll get hits on a number of specialists that could do the job. You may want to consider Sydney as well.

Tony Farrugia Bodyworks is the best in Canberra. He does all the high end Euro cars, including most warranty and insurance work for Land Rovers. He is pricey though....

Cheers,

Pete

Going either Ivory or Corris Gray.

Tony F. only does insurance work.

I might be going with Reel Steal in Queanbeyan.

Real Steal is a car restoration company - Ok if you are wanting to get them to do the full restoration - but like all restoration companies a bit expensive. If you are looking at paint work then I would be looking for a dedicated paint shop or a smash repairers with a good paint shop - there are a few over at Hume.

Oh - by any chance is your Defender the red one parked on the nature strip in Weston Creek?

I'm doing the full restoration, just looking for paint.

If you have another recommendation, please share.

No, mine is just a rolling chassis in the garage. Cheers.

Wizard did the repairs on my sons D2, got the colour right etc reasonable price, happy for cash. They have been exhibitors at the last few 4WD Spectacular, so worth a mention.

Any names of the shops you'd recommend in Hume?

No idea - just highlighting there are quite a few over there that you might want to talk too. Taking it to Real Steel, a full on restoration shop seems like expensive over kill. Afterall it is a Defender not a Ferrari - any old professional paint shop is going to do a better paint job than what it came out of the factory with.

Good luck with it.

Just as well he only does insurance now - TF did the worst job ever on my 110 TD5 insurance job (bits missing, door misaligned and leaking, bogged up dent rather than repair etc). He did an OK job on my MB earlier, but wouldn't go near him again.
