View Full Version : Park lights - can I get them to stay on constantly?

Hi
I've got a MY10 D4, and have recently purchased an IIDtool (BT)...
I read somewhere that I may be able to get my park lights to operate as daytime running lights (ie on whenever the car is on), while the light selector remains on Auto...
I've done some searches, but can't find anything...
Anyone got any ideas what settings I'd modify in the CCF to make this happen (or if it's possible)?
Thanks.

So...
Canadian DRL - low beam + park lights (LED strip) come on when you put it in gear (out of park), regardless of the light selector position.
Standard DRL - no change from 'normal'. Nothing seems to come on/off, regardless of light selector position.
Haven't tried the Scandinavian DRL setting yet...
Maybe I can't get just the park lights (LED strip) to light up, without selecting the Park Light setting???
Thanks.

Park lights really aren't any good on the highway - hardly visible when closing at speed...
Consider a set of real DRLs or Headlights on function.

Rob, the short answers in no and as Tombie says the LEDs alone do not produce much light.
This is because they were only intended as signature lights not DRLs.
These are the disreet LEDs that some refer to as fairy lights as per this photo rather than the continuous strip of latest model:

However, I think it is possible to re-wire them for operation as DRLs but I think you have to make wiring changes (cutting/splicing/etc).
I believe I've seen it on Disco3.

Cool, thanks for the responses. At least I know what I can't (easily) do!!

I considered that the signature LEDs didn't provide nearly enough light to be useful. I also discarded a set of cheap so-called DRLs because they weren't even as bright as the signature LEDs when viewed 200 metres away on a sunny day.
