I have no idea how to use this site as I'm new here, and I'm desperately trying to get my car on the road safely enough for my child to be in, every time I look up wheel bearings and drive shaft Universals, every add says '86 on & mines a '75. Can I still use the ones for the '86 up?

I THINK there was a change along the way somewhere. I would at least check with a Land Rover parts supplier, or pull one out and measure 1st.

heres how you fix that.
get on the phone (or EBAY) to roverlord offroad spares with your model, year number and VIN/ Chassis number and what you need and they'll sort you out.
Failing that do the same with MR automotive in redcliff and they will most definitely help you.
Both will provide parts delivered to your door. MR is likely to be the fastest but it will cost a little more than Roverlord.
The wheel bearings are different (assuming you mean a series) from 75 into the post 86 county as are the shafts
If you mean a rangie, From memory I think they are the same but the bearing spacing changes.

Taigen, welcome to the forum. A 2 door is a nice place to start with RRC.
Perhaps check with Roverparts in Ballarat, TRS in Adelaide. And Roverlord (Mario and Heather) is an excellent and prompt mail order supplier.
1975 RRC mechanical parts are not expensive, as many are shared with LR S3/110/Defender. For instance, uni joints are about $20!
Can you give us an indication of what you think needs repair before you put the kids in the car? That might give us an opportunity to point you in a useful direction.

G`day ,
For the wheel bearing i don`t think it matters but if you are ordering blind , be sure they are pre 86 , the bearing will have a number on it same number same bearing ( cup/cone ), but as i say i don`t think there is a difference
For the uni joints they are different the older type has a wider cross but same size cups . So you need the pre 86 .

Thanks everyone I ordered them this morning! As for the things it needs a friend is a mechanic but doesn't have much in the way of range rover technicals so just needed to be sure parts would fit as I will be dropping the car off once all the parts arrive, the car belonged to someone d@rk51d3 sold it to a year before me but still had his stickers (hence my name) but when I purchased it the main things that made me not feel comfortable having my toddler in it were because the steering was all over the road & half way home we found out it had no engine mounts.

Steering faults are major and you are right not to risk trouble.
Wanders and bump steers - panhard rod bushes, swivel hub preload on both sides, tie rod ends and drag link ends.
Search the RRC and D1 forums for advice and pointers as well as sources of bits.
Important: Have your indi check the drop arm fixings on the steering box and make sure the lock tab on the sector shaft is correctly peened. Check also the intermediate steering shaft (from firewall to steering box) for uni joint wear.
Good luck with the repairs - they're not difficult, but require absolute care.
Cheers

Just a word of caution when ordering parts for these things and not knowing the history of the vehicle. some times with old Rangies people do mods and they become bitzas. We have found this with some customers where supposed to be parts were not correct, we had one where from one side to the other they were different, and in the case of Halls old Defender built on a Range Rove chassis, the pinions from front to back were different.

This has been something I've worried about so when ordering parts I make sure they match both my parts range rover and the daily just to be sure!
