I have a 1993 RRC V8 and I am trouble shooting a few things. The WSM says that after 1990 they changed the ECU to a 14CUX and fitted an Onboard Diagnostic Display unit adjacent to the ECU under the drivers seat. I have a 14CUX but don't have a fault display unit. I have searched for images of what they look like and where they mount and I definitely do not have one. I need to check the fault codes in the ECU. The check engine light only flashes for 1/2 second when the ignition is turned on ( the WSM suggests that it should stay on for a few seconds if things are normal) and does not turn on even when sensors are disconnected while running, so I am suspect that there is an issue somewhere with the check engine light or the 14CUX or somewhere else.
Is there any other way to interrogate the 14CUX?
Thanks.

I haven't seen an Australian delivered car with the code display fitted I think it was just a Northern America spec thing.
I do have a kit at home to fit one to a classic, comes as a little box with a display and tells you what pins to tap into on the ecu plug for it.
Apart from that its a fairly simple setup and very easy ECU to plumb into a car, shouldn't take long to trace the check light and see if its good or not or check basic outputs on the ECU.

Thanks for the info.
So is there no other way to read the fault codes?

You can use rovergauge to check fault codes etc. Its a free program (youll find it with google). You will need a cheap laptop and a cable to interface with it.I think the cables are available on uk ebay. It does a few other things like show which part of the fuel map you are in at any one time, and also which tune you are running. Regards Steve

I was just reading about Rovergauge a minute ago. As long as it will display the fault codes it should do the trick. I will give it a go.
