Hi all,

Sad news, the old 96? Disco 300TDI is going to the graveyard. The gearbox will not engage, could be a simple bearing but I expect it will be more. Due to her age and the fact that the wife hates the old girl, she needs to go.

Sorry to hear that Navron, it's sad news indeed. I feel your pain as my beloved 97 Disco just kicked the bucket with gear box issues too. Coincedentally mine was also silver, so beware any owners with silver 96-97 Disco's, but not as beefed up with the 4wd extras like yours, just standard with a braked tow kit and thats it. Although, it did have a better engine put in at the 80,000km mark.

Just wanted to pass on my condolences but also ask what your other options are if no one buys it from here? Are we essentially looking at a wrecking yard if no one buys from here? If so, how much do you expect from a yard?

In my case, I don't think there are any parts worth breaking it down for to sell individually, all though it does have a new drivers door window regulator which was replaced within the last two months. Yes, that is it's high selling point. Tires are pretty much done too.

I hope you or someone else may point me in the right direction. It just feels aweful handing her over to a wrecker, but I think in my case that is where she will go.

I am on the gold coast, and my old girl is still parked at Ricks 4wd at Nerang, but I need to move her asap or Rick will kick my butt. Hoping to just coax her home one last time tomorrow amd get some pictures, but they will be sad ones.

cheers,
Daz

Hi Daz,

She went to someone at the club to be pull apart and used in a project car.
You may just need to put it on a car trailer, there was a few people in the club around the gold coast with car trailers from memory.
Sorry to see another Disco disappear, but it does open a spot for something else to be played with.

Create a new post in the general section and someone may buy it.
Cheers

Thanks Navron, will do. Did not get her home today as I think a trailer is the best option so will hunt one down, and will post when I can get some photos, Thank you.
