Ever since my D4 went in to have the lower control arms and oil measuring sensor(sump off) under warranty, plus the roo damage repair(new rhs guard) I have an annoying hissing noise.
I checked for loose missing trim, all seems good.I don't think its wind noise, its constant regaurdless of wind speed/direction.
The noise is intermittent,Im suspecting some sort of induction noise.Seems to vary with terrain and road speed.Ive ruled out the HEVAC system,on or off makes no difference.
IT mainly happens from cold, until it well and truly warmed up,worst on cold mornings.
I'm leaning to the connection to the guard to the airbox, all looks ok.
Thoughts?????
Havent been able to take it back to the dealer or panel shop yet,and not likely to be doing it after a long drive.

If you've had the drivers side guard removed it could be to do with the air intake. Check air intake grill (or snorkel if you have one). Also wheel arch trim panel. Good luck.

I did find some masking tape next to the grille, thought SOLVED.Nope still the same this morning, unless there is more sucked into the air-box.I guess that's my next look-see.

Leaving the vehicle in neutral, does the noise change with revs.If so definitely something to do with air intake system.

Be careful poking and prodding around inside body panels. You might just have one of these "vindscreen vipers" hiding in there somewhere. :o:o:o
Well ...................... it would explain the hisssssing noise you are hearing. :p:p

Will try that.
I had the noise really bad this morning at legal highway speed, gave it a quick squirt to check,it went away.Came back at legal speed,so no trim loose I would think causing wind noise.
Also cruise at 110kmh,hit the shift down a few times,in 4th at 110kmh it went.SO,something to do with bulk air mass into engine,so noise could be on the primary turbo. Its not a mechanical whine.

You might want to check that the airbox lid is properly fitted before doing much more driving.
The primary turbo is on the LHS and any air leak after the MAFs is very likely to trigger a fault code or 2.

I've noticed an audible hissing with the D4, seems to come mostly from the heroes driving Toyonisscans etc.:D
