how do you get fuel lines off the TD5 fuel filter housing?

I'm having a hard time figuring out how to get the fuel lines (the ones towards the rear of the car) off the filter housing on my 2005 TD5 Defender.
The end of the fuel lines have what looks like squarish banjos and I can't see any obvious way to get them off the brass fitting. I checked the workshop manual and there is no reference to this. Any help would be appreciated.

The fuel lines have coloured rubber sleeves over the fittings.
Slide these back to access the fitting lock tabs.
The fitting has two tabs opposite sides which need to be squeezed to release the fitting.
You need to push the fitting onto the barb then while pressing and holding the tabs slide the fitting off.

Are you talking about the lines at the fuel pump end or the filter? I can't see any colour coding at the fuel filter fittings. I'm trying to figure out how to get these off.

Yep thats them. Probably too much grime to see the coloured sleeves (if still fitted)
Remove the filter guard.
Slip the rubber sleeves away from the connector.(towards the housing)
Locate the two tabs on the flats of the connector and while pushing the connector onto the housing - press the tabs in.
Withdraw the connector while still holding in the tabs.
here is a pic of later model but the fittings are essentially the same. Your connector tabs will be black instead of blue in the pic.

I found that where access is a problem , that I bent a small pair of longnose pliers and was able to squeeze the tangs that way , while pushing then pulling with the other hand.
I had to do that with the fuel cooler connections as you couldn't get your hand to the back of the connector.
