My key fob has been only working when it feels like it of late, new battries and all, then the unlock button stopped working all together.
I resorted to using the key in the door, but I really missed the convenience of pressing a button, specially with arms full of shopping.
After having a read about a replacement costing as much as $500, I decided to see if I could do something about it myself.
Using a straight blade precision screw driver, I carefully pried off the rubber button cover which exposed the 2 buttons inside.
Then I gave a light spray of contact cleaner into the buttons and worked the buttons using a match stick over and over, pushing directly down, from the sides, working all around.
Gave them another spray and kept working at it.
After a minute or so, the red light on the fob started to appear when the buttons were held down for a second.
Once that was happening for both buttons, I replaced the rubber cover and left it to dry out overnight.
This morning I pressed the remote to open and what do you know, the locks popped up, it's working again!
Years of crud must eventually find its way into the buttons and dirty the contacts.
Anyway, I'm happy about that.
I wouldn't go spraying WD40 in there, proper contact cleaner leaves no residue.
If yours has not been working you may need to re synch the fob before it works again.
Might be worth a shot if yours is not working.
Cheers, Pete.
