Bought the Wife an iPhone SE, which is a '6' in a smaller package, like a longer iPhone 4s.

When I plug it into the computer, it does'nt show up on the list, like my Android phone automatically does...

I've tried iTunes, but it leaves me totally confused and frustrated....
-Is there a simple app, free or $$$, that will allow me to ONLY download her photos onto a PC (Win 7 Home Premium) She uses it for phone and photos, NOT music. And no, not interested in 'The Cloud'.... more hassles and less security IMHO

Thanks !

Try turning the phone off and back on before connecting to the PC.

When connected it should boot itunes and then an autoplay window should appear. I usually click on "view files" using windows explorer and the phone will appear as a disk drive and you can navigate to get the pics and copy them over.

I find getting the auto play window a bit hit n miss but re booting the phone usually solves the problem.

Cheers

Steve

Are you using a decent cable or a cheapy?.... I have seen cables that will charge but not sync...

You can't just download photos from an iphone onto a pc. You have to either use itunes or there are some programs which you upload to both units and use this to transfer photos. It is a pita really but google how to do this and it will come up with what you need

That used to be the case - but is no longer true... I can copy phones straight off my iphone with windows explorer - no additional software.

I am a fan of dropbox.

I've installed it on my phone and ipad. More importantly I've installed it on my wife's phone and set it to automatically upload camera shots.

I've then installed it on our PCs, and set it to automatically download or sync. So, my wife comes home, turns on her PC and opens dropbox (it sits in the notification area and integrates with windows explorer or file explorer (Windows 10)). All the photo she has taken are sitting there waiting.

Its a great way to get the images of the phone, albeit at reduced resolution. The photos are still good, and I can download the original if she's after a bit more quality.

Belated update.

Been using this recently, and as the ONLY thing I neeeeed to do is 'extract' photos from Wife's SE onto the desktop...it fits the bill perfectly.

And it's not too complex for an idiot such as myself to drive...

It looks as though it'll do a heap of other things too. :)

EDIT: I still miss the old Samsung S4 / Android...with it's excellent camera. - The hand-me-down from SWMBO , iPhone 4S, is not in the race, and only good for taking picture-notes of prices and parts etc. The SE's camera is not too shabby though...
