Background:
As some may already know there is presently a drought of Optima batteries in Australia. Seems that when the owning company merged with another (Johnson Controls and Tyco) they failed to inform the 3 Australian importers of their new arrangements, just kept accepting the orders, but not allocating production. I ran out in early November.
The popular Optima D34 and D27 (in their various forms) are all out of stock, throughout Australia, and shipments will probably not arrive till at least MID JANUARY. It was mid Nov, then mid Dec, and now importers are being told mid Jan.
Options:
I have found alternative quality batteries for the popular Optima D34 and D27.
Deka (made by East Penn Manufacturing, USA) have similar batteries available. Similar in physical size and post locations etc, slightly higher specifications and price and with a 12 month warranty. Deka batteries have been available for a number of years in Australia, and proved to be reliable and robust in our vehicles and conditions.
