View Full Version : Puma radio PIN

When i bought my 2012 Puma (secondhand) the log book didn't contain a radio PIN and the dealer was 'unable' to provide it.

After much chasing through a number of sources I have finally managed to get the PIN associated with my VIN from Land Rover Customer Relationship Centre on my second attempt (via a different 'executive' than I dealt with the first time) this one proving to actually be very helpful.

The original selling dealership didn't want to know anything about it, and wouldn't even tell me what work had been done under warranty, in fact didnt even return my phone calls, I assume because the vehicle was out of warranty.

Anyway I had some work done by my trusted mechanic during the week and no real surprise to me when i collected the vehicle the radio was requesting a code. I entered the code provided and followed the instructions on page 38 of the handbook, and nothing happened! You are instructed to press the RND or 3 button once you have entered the four digit code. After a lot of additional emails and mucking around Land Rover advised me to try 5 instead. Nothing happened. Eventually i was instructed to go to an authorized dealer as the Customer Relationship people had run out of ideas.

So I ring my nearest authorized dealer and to my surprise they said bring it down and we will fix in 5 minutes. So i did. They managed to have it locked in SAFE mode in no time meaning an hour wait to reset. I didnt have the time to wait but they did say the instruction in the manual is wrong, you need to press SCAN after entering the code and not the RND/3 button. They also told me they suspected the radio may not have been the original but swapped under warranty, so they pulled it out of the dash and took a photo of the serial number and other details on the back. This was all done at no charge, very impressed with the guys i dealt with here. The technician/mechanic that took the photo also had a Puma 90 but a 2013.

i have sent the photo to my now 'mate' at the Customer Relationship Centre and he has sent to the UK in the hope they can provide the code.

Has anyone else had a similar experience where the PIN doesn't work? Is the hand book instruction really wrong and no update issued?

I think you don't need a PIN from 2013 onwards... lucky for me by the sounds of it !!

Good luck :)

There was an earlier thread on this subject a couple of years ago, and yes there is a mistake in the book regarding the code procedure, forget what it was now, I may have written it in my instruction book. Will have a look.

thanks for the comments guys.

I am happy to say Land Rover have come good with the correct code from the UK as the radio had been swapped at some point. You need to enter 5 after the 4 digits of the PIN and away she goes.

happy camper today
