Mitchell Bros Hitch and Rear Parking Sensors

I have just upgraded my much travelled 2006 Discovery 3, to a run-out D4 - got sick of waiting for either the new Discovery or Defender!!!!
To get it up to spec for outback touring (towing our Ultimate Off road Camper), I have started adding bits.
The first three which are 95% done are the Traxide D4-5U Dual battery kit, Redarc Tow Pro Elite and the Mitchell Bros Tow Hitch.
I just have to purchase and install a suitable battery (as the Optima D34 is in short supply) and tidy up the rear connections.
The posts on the forum were invaluable as I did all the work myself.
My D3 did not have Rear Parking Sensors so did not have any issues with it.
The D4 gives constant tone when reverse is selected - obviously picking up the tow hitch. Can turn off with button on dash each time reverse is selected.
However, is a nuisance and miss the proximity warning.
Question: Is there a way of adjusting the sensitivity or spread of the two inner Rear Parking Sensors?

No adjustment to the sensors but you can block out the inner side of the inner two sensors with a stick-on felt pad or similar in a semi-circle shape.
Stick directly to the sensor face on the bumper. This has been successful for a few people.
Years ago people mentioned rotating the sensor but I understand the mounting design changed precluding this option.

I bet it's a very nice upgrade.

As Scott mentioned - go to Bunnings and buy the small clear plastic furniture floor protectors - they are about the same diameter as the inner sensors.

Thanks Scott and garrycol I will get on to the fix tomorrow.
The D4 is a TDV6 which came with Nav, Rear Camera, Leather, Meridian sound, 7 seats, Xenon lights and keyless entry - none of which were on the D3. So is a nicer ride than the D3.
I kept the Tradesman roof rack and drawer system from D3 - also HF radio (Not sure if I will get it installed or go to Sat phone/Spot)
The big expenditure is still to come with 18" wheels/tyres, Long Range tank, Rear wheel carrier, ARB Summit winch bar, Snorkel, Llams, and UHF.

I just put some tape over the rear sensors but the the front sensor noise still annoyed me when parking in the garage so used my GAP tool and disabled the sensors completely. If you've got a rear camera use it instead.

I must admit that all these modern day driving aids - sensors, convex mirrors, cameras, proximity alerts and the list goes on confuse the heck out of me and have made me a worst driver because of it. They just add confusion to the whole driving experience. But that's another story.

I just stow my towball when not towing. It doesn't affect the sensors without the tongue and ball. on my D3 I just pulled the fuse as I have an aftermarket reversing camera. Fuse 32 from memory.

It's funny, doesn't affect the D4 for quite a few model years including up to mine (MY14). I had the covers ready to go from reading here but didn't need them.
But people have been reporting the issue for MY15 and MY16.

We turned our reverse beepers off using our faultmate, I would assume you can do this with the new Nanocom or IID Tool if you have either.

It's funny, doesn't affect the D4 for quite a few model years including up to mine (MY14). I had the covers ready to go from reading here but didn't need them.
But people have been reporting the issue for MY15 and MY16.

The IIDTool from the D3 was a very early model and not able to re-program for D4. It is currently on its way to Canada to be swapped for a BT version for a reasonable fee. If the blanking doesn't work will have a look at IIDTool option.
