The first 9 Rugby league teams in Sydney.

1. Glebe, 9 Jan. 1908.
Maroon jersey, nickname " dirty reds". Captain Alec Burdon, whose shoulder injury was put forward as the catalyst for the birth of rugby league in Australia.

2. Newtown, 14 Jan.1908.
Royal blue jersey,nickname blues, then bluebags. Harry Hammill captain.

3. South Sydney, 17 Jan. 1908
Cardinal and Myrtle jerseys. Captain, Ash Hennessy. Known as the Rabbitohs.

4. Balmain, 23 Jan.1908.
Black and gold jersey, Bob Graves captain. Known as the black & golds.then the tiger stripes, which segued to Tigers. Also known as the 'watersiders'.

5.Eastern Suburbs, 24 Jan.1908
Red white and blue jerseys, nick name tricolours. Captain Harry 'jersey' Flegg.

6. Western Suburbs, 4 feb. 1908.
Black and white jerseys, nick name fruit pickers.

7. North Sydney, 7th Feb. 1908.
Red and Black Jerseys, nick name Shoremen.

8. Newcastle, 10 April 1908.
Red and white jerseys, All games played in Sydney. Referred to as the coaly men.

9. Central Cumberland, 21 April 1908.
The Cumberlanders played in the Royal Blue and Gold of the Parramatta district.
