Interesting that it seems to be accepted the Howard Government made a mistake when it saw the mission as purely military and the government later had to go back and change that to a whole of government approach.
I would have thought it bleeding obvious that you can't win just by bombing and shooting. The Americans made the same mistske in Iraq. You have to support the growth of a sustainable civil society and government or else you'll be stuck there forever.

You and I can see that, however a Government who believe their own propaganda, and are convinced to think they can do no wrong, and are the savour of the World, can not be advised.
