View Full Version : Christmas Presents for Monty

Well, it's been a big last quarter to 2016.

I finally sold my beloved 1967 Austin Healey and after also doing the Postie Bike Challenge this year, I thought it was time to devote a little time on Monty in case he was feeling left out.

The Hannibal awning that I installed 3 years ago, is on its last legs. The stitching is coming apart on the Velcro and the awning itself and there's a nasty black mould on the fabric too; this is disappointing given the cost of the awning and all their sales spiel about how they'll last a lifetime. It's also not as free-standing as they like as it doesn't drain the rain easily so for me, it was time for a change.

So, with the help of the ever-impressive Daniel at Mulgo, the Alu-Cab 270-degree 'Shadow Awning' has been installed in its place.

I'm going to put the old Hannibal one up at home over the deck but the almost new Hannibal rear awning (used only 3 or 4 times) which has also been removed from the vehicle, I will put in the Marketplace for sale if anyone wants it. As it's a smaller unit, it's much better at draining rain and I'm very happy with it, but now the new awning has taken its place.

Other new toys - a gas bottle holder, new headlights, a barbecue, a stove, new headlights (Gen 7), headlight guards, new brakes, new rear axles and flanges.

I'll give it all a test run on the Tassie trip starting on 27th Dec with a camp on the Mornington Peninsula before getting on the ferry on 29th.

Pics to follow ;-)
