hmmmmmm i think i may have worded it wrongly
I know the Range Rover went to a door style fuel door in 1986 , but i noticed a Classic shaped Range Rover at the lights today but the fuel door was on the upper most part of the rear quater panel near the window even .... just spun me out and made me curious ....

The 87 mo0del year has the flip sided panel for the filler wheras the models previous to that don't (are exposed).
The higher fuel filler wasn't introduced til late of 91, this is the best filler of all IMO. The older styles are poorly designed wityh the filler level with the tank allowing for fuel to pour out when the seals fail (or work  )

Yeah, the older style filler can cause a disaster if you forget to close it after filling up, especially with todays fuel prices.
I once forgot to close it and drove out of the servo to go around a roundabout, and a mate driving behind me says fuel just spewed out all over the road, about $15 worth!
I was spewing too. Needless to say, I now always double check the lid is closed properly.
