Hi
Have a 2005 2.7 diesel and trying to make sense of the vehcile weight when towing. Page 301 of the manual states max gross weight (GVW) of RR is 3070 kgs for a diesel. Also states max front axle at 1470 kgs, and max rear axle is 1710 kgs.
But the same page goes on under a heading of 'Maximum towing weights' and states front axle load is the same 1470 kgs, but the max rear axle load is listed at 1967 kgs.
So my question which Land Rover seems incapable of answering either at the dealer level or Landrover Customer Care is " does this vehicle have an increased GVW when towing.
It does not seem plausible. But if the GVW stays the same when towing at 3070 kgs, and the rear axle is loaded to capacity of 1967 kgs, this would mean the front axle needs to be reduced to 3070- 1967 = 1103 kgs. Given it appears the front axle min weight when totally unloaded is around 1300 kgs, 1103 kgs is in no way feasible.
So my question is does the GVW increase to allow for additional ball weight when towing? Any assistance would be much appreciated and perhaps I can share it with LR Customer Care who just refuse to answer my question, but send me ridulous general replies about towing.

Its not just RRS's, any car that tows must add the ball weight to the rear axle loading,,
throw out some people and fuel.

and there is a total car/trailer weight that must be adhered to as well,,,

This is how the D3/D4/RRS have a true GVM + 3500kg towing if ball weight is 250kg
