maxi drive into norforce front diff

hey guys, been a year or so since I've last been on here. thought some of you might be interested in what I'm doing over the christmas break.

these diffs have internally braced axle tubes, 12mm thick, and the diff centre is 12 mm thick.

Tell me more about these axles?

they were specially designed for the 4x4 norforce perenties and 6x6s. can be dropped out of a plane no worries.they also give you more ground clearance than a standard rover diff. because the tubes are internally laminated with pipe, the maxi drive locking dog does not fit. E lockers are a good unit to stick in them though. perfect front diff to use in an isuzu powered rover.

and they look mean under a rangie or disco

Nice one..hows the track? Same as D1 or RRC are the bearings axles etc exactly the same as stock items from landrover? Where can you source these?

yep identical track. they use early county hubs and 24 spline axles, heard of some coming with maxi drive axles. gotta get them from the army auctions, they do need a full rebuild though,

My guess is that these things would be pretty much unbrakeable, so The next question is of course..... how / where do we find these jewels? I've looked for them (auction sites etc) and cannot find any specific reference to them anywhere online

I also think they must be referred to internally by the adf as something else.

I found the only info I could locate was on remlr (quoted below).

So my question is obviously.... Is your differntial an RFSV Perentie 110 patrol front differential?

According to some other sources on remlr, the actual 'strength' was questionable (conjecture) but these front perentie diffs were 'advised' to be used if someone were to do a the isuzu 4bd1t conversion to a normal landy/rrc/disco then you would want to use this diff housing or at least brace the rover diff. I found that particularly interesting, as it implies there is knowledge of or the occurrence of bent housings when the isuzu engined vehicles were 'driven with enthusiasm'

My uncle was in RAEME for 30 odd years so i'll ask him about it next time I chat with him.

Not unbreakable as Blacknight binned a few broken ones. But probably a lot better for an Isuzu which is heavier than a tdi.

I have seen quite a few come up at Grays.
