I had a customer today buy an expansion tank from me, he was desperate, as he was stuck. He told me he rang some bricks and motor store and all he got was a recording " we are currently attending to customers and can not take your call." He then realised they were shut. He commented that if they are closed then it wouldn't take much to change the recorded message to reflect that.
So we helped him out, he was so greatful and wanted us to add $25 to the credit card bill for helping him out.

Naturally we didn't accept the extra tip, but it makes us feel good that someone's holiday is not ruined and they will be on their way again and we could help out.

When some one in business helps me I like to show my loyalty by buying and recommending them to others Some time back I think it was you that I brought a O ring from for a Ser3 6 cylinder water pump, The invoice was lost and forgotten until for about 18 months I phoned your office and apologized and asked for your bank details, I was told as it was only a small amount and so long passed to forget it. I do not forget little things like this and have recommended you a few times to others I live in Queensland that why I do not trade with you, but I am looking forward to meeting you when in Melbourne next .

Its good to hear that the like's of Roverlord and Landybitz go that extra mile over the festive period, we too have had people calling emailing etc wanting parts because others are closed, of course someone people would say you are entitled to have time off at Xmas and its your choice to open, but in an industry like ours which is getting very competitive and where margins are getting tighter and tighter as competition increase, trading all hours is a benefit to some. We also now live in a world where everyone wants things in the now.

Any way this is why you get such a good plug and recommendation from so many members as you go the extra mile any time when others cant or wont be bothered

Thanks Chris, the days between Christmas and New year are officially trading days anyway. We Been busy the last few of days personally delivering stuff as no couriers or postal service. We didn't have the usual pre Christmas rush like other years, I think people wanted to save money and chance going away.. Unfortunately quite a few got caught with cooling issues, belts, hoses, expansion tanks etc. The few hot days have taken the toll on weak cooling systems.
I drove past the local tyre place today and it was packed out with vehicles getting stuff done so there are a businesses open.
We'll have our break during the year when all the madness is gone.

I find all this in poor form that you can jump in on another vendors praise and try and steal some lime light or glow
It is actually a low act.

The thread is in General Chat. Anyone can contribute to a thread in General Chat, or so I thought. They do not even have to be "on topic".

I bought the only (last) RRC CV from there when they were Peck & Stokes yonks ago. Way under half price because they weren't going to stock classic parts moving forward.

It frustrates me no end when ringing a business to be told that they are closed and to try again tomorrow, when they are shut for holidays.

Recently I tried to offer a business an extra $20 for going out of his way and he refused.

Well done Mario and Heather for offering the service that you do.

Every one has a right to have a holiday break if they desire, yes we had a few people complain about other businesses that were shut and had answering machines, but they did not say they were closed and what reopening days. That's not my problem.

Customer service should not require a "Tip" we not the USA. with underpaid workers . Doing the right thing by customers should not be a choir. If it is, then why be in business?

In Japan, a "Tip" is regarded as an insult, it makes the person feel like you were unhappy with their service and they get embarrassed and are ashamed they did not live up to your expectations.
