Looking at roof racks for camping / touring use.

The ones that have caught my eye are Rhino Rack and Front Runner. Does anyone have experience of these, or are there other brands that are recommended?

I want to be able to attach an awning, other options nice to have.

I am about to fit a Frontrunner with the optional table fitted underneath it. Do not get carried away with specialised brackets for awnings etc, as you will find they can simply be bolted directly to the sides (have to drill a couple of holes). Spare wheel bracket is available, but I have used the Just Straps spare tyre strap (3 legged), it works a treat.

How does the front runner connect to the roof?

Hi guys, I actually just purchased a Front Runner rack for my L322 but i'm sending it back. I really didn't like the fit or the dimensions they used. Also the front air dam is horrible, it's directly over the sunroof making it way to gusty when opening the roof.

I did not go with the frontrunner rack as my old Hannibal rack (post roll) was still flat. It was too wide so have narrowed it by cutting 155mm out of it (one of the slats) and rewelding. I have attached to the roof via Frontrunner rails (Universal Track / 1800mm(L) - by Front Runner (https://www.frontrunneroutfitters.com/en/au/front-runner-universal-track-1800mm.html))attached at the three bolt spots on each side, and using pairs of frontrunner legs (each of the 3 are of different lengths eg: Foot Set / 50mm - by Front Runner | RACK COMPONENTS | RACKS (https://www.frontrunneroutfitters.com/en/au/roof-racks/rack-components/front-runner-foot-set-50mm.html))
Still planning to fit the table underneath, but using our own rails I am getting folded by local workshop. Photos soon, when it is fitted.

RR fitted ... now to sort out the awning
If you enlarge the pics you can see the weld lines, and the road rash ... something to paint one day.

Don't suppose you have any pics of it fitted? I was about to buy, but if that bad may look at the rhino rack.

I had the Rhino Rack platform roof rack installed today, doesn't look too bad to be honest. I will try and do photos if I can work out how!
