Has anyone got one of those Kaymar, OL, whoever, bumper replacement wheel carriers on their Defender, doesnt matter if its the single or double, just would like some pics if possible of the way they mount them to the chassis or tow hitch, (mate just bought a new mig.)

They dont replace the bumper coz there is nothing to replace, troutbeck in Ballarat sell the Bearmach one that bolts to rear crossmember on the bottom and to the body at the top and swing with the door. Kaymar make one that mounts to crossmember only.

Yup, I've got the Bearmach ... good solid unit, 3 point mounting system, opens with the door, cost around $450.

A mate just bought a defender and was comparing the Bearmach and Kaymar units.
On initial inspection, the bearmach seemed the better unit, but the guy who sells them in Ballarat told him they had some problems with them damaging back doors over extended corrugations and were re-engineering them. He ended up buying a Kaymar and fitting it himself.
He's introducing his family to the Defender this w'end, but I may be able to get a couple of pics through the week if you're still after some.

This is my homemade version. It doesn't swing with the door though.
The greame cooper ones are really good.

That mounting plate on the rear door, is that supplied with the carrier, and how many new holes do I have to drill in the beast(shudder).

Yep, please do, I think the Kaymar job doesnt mount to the rear door at all, and thats more what I'm looking for.

the Kaymar job also seems to mount the wheel more to the centre of the vehicle.

Henry, did that plate for the rear door come with the carrier? Interesting. I bought a Bearmach, modified it with that exact plate, and sent them the result. They didn't reply but seemed to have used the idea!

Kaymar rear wheel carrier

The mount is completely independant of the rear door. It has to be opened separately which would be a hassle if you were using the rear area for seating (but I dont think many people do).
If you need any closer pics (or different view) just let me know.
For those that have the Bearmach carriers there was talk at the last LROC meeting of a reacall due to insuffiecient weld penetration on the wheel studs.
