Hi All,

I'm looking at replacing the front Disc rotors on my 92 classic.

Whats people thoughts on upgrading from std to slotted / drilled rotors?

Are there any pifalls .... Ive heard some issues with pads and disc getting clogged while 4WD.

All thoughts appreciated,

Cheers

I've never found clogging a problem for slots and dimples.

Cross-drilled rotors are prone to cracking - I have seen this, dont go there.

My opinion. If you go to slotting etc, you need a higher performance (high friction) pad to retain not hot performance as you lose contact area between the rotor and the pads. The slots predominantly work when the pads are right at the hot end of their working range.

I've tried a few rotors, the one I really like is the DBA T2 slotted rotor.

Since the demise of the EBC 2000 series pads, I haven't found a pad that I've been excited by. I am however trying to get my hands on some EBC yellow pads to suit which I hope may be really good.

Thanks Slunnie

Will the DBA T2 fit my 92 Classic

I'll make some inquires and see what they are worth.

I'd look forward to seeing you post on those EBC yellow pads

Cheers

They will fit. Fronts they carry, rears are by order, and they're about $200 per rotor.

Hi Baggy,

I fitted a front pair of DBA slotted solid to my RRC 10+ years ago. $330 the pair back then. They have been great.

Didn't go drilled based on Slunnie's comments (as per above) at the time, or vented because someone said they are more prone to warping with sudden cooling.

The only pads I use now are Mintex from Paddocks in the UK. I get 2 sets F&R sent at the same time for some some stupid price like $100 all up.

They are great............seem to grip harder, with constant pedal pressure, as the rotors heat up coming to a stop from 100 kph.

before you fit them, double check the depth of the slots VS the wear limits..

if the slots are deeper than the wear limit and you know someone with a good lathe spin the rotors up un the lathe and cut a band on either side of the vents at the nominal wear limit position IF the rotors dont already come with a depth slot cut in the outer circumference.

Hi Baggy,

The link to the pads is for up to 1985, the ones for your 92 are on the same site.
