Some of you may remember I asked a few months ago if anyone had ever done the McBrides beach trail? Essentially it is an access trail for a secluded beach very close to Forster NSW but the track is for serious 4wd's only.

After considering it for a while and taking a walk down I decided to take the D4 for a test, about half way down there is a fork in the road which gives you the 'easier' or hard path.. of course, I took the hard path!

It is easily the best track Ive found and the beach at the end is great but you are putting the car to a test and if I didn't have rock sliders I would have 2-3 nice scrapes up the side so consider that before you go but these incidents happened on the hard track so you could potentially avoid any damage on the easier track.

I know you guys would never believe it unless I included a video so here it is..

Sadly the most difficult part on the way up was missed on video, I was very nervous at this point and the car felt like it was vertical with only two weeks trying to climb a muddy path but in the end the car came out first go over every obstacle without a single scratch to the panels..

It's an absolutely brilliant place to visit if you want to see what our cars can really do!

Nice drive mate. Looks a nice track, some hairy bits there as well.

I'm interested in which mode was set, and was llams used?

Tyres look fit for purpose.

A nice photo of the destination would give an idea of whether the effort was worth the risk.
cheers, Neil.

I have the GOE lift rods, for the vast majority of the track I just used standard off road height however I used 'extended mode' on two occasions.

I bottomed out on one section but this is avoidable if I had taken a slightly different line.. You could potentially do the hard trail even without sliders but I don't know if this is a risk I would be willing to take as I had two spotters and still hit them.

Sliders are APT and held up well.

Tyres are my spares with mud terrains fitted.. very good off road but way too loud on road.. I will replace these for KO2's to become my every day wheels soon.

I'm short of pics but here is the end result thanks to google, the track down is much steeper than it looks in the video but worth it!

That looks fun luke!

I have 2 questions:
1. Is yours a later disco with shaved front calipers or a earlier model with upgraded lights and bumper?
2. Did you paint your wheels or get them done professionally. They look great!

Cheers

Great video, very well filmed. Would be good next time to get some comparison shots of the Landcruiser. Keep it up.

Mine is a 2011 with upgraded lights and bumper etc, hence the 18" wheels

The wheels are actually only plasti dip, no complaints so far but I will
Potentially have these wheels sprayed black professionally before the KO2's go on.

To answer the earlier question, almost exclusively used rock crawl mode too.

Looks like a great track and the video is excellent, very cinematic cameraman.
Interesting that the LEDs flash in some sequences but not others.

Cheers,
Scott

Nice video, pity you didn't get that section of the climb back out.
I did notice however you still had the anchor hanging down at the back! ;)

This is my favourite track ever, I've been down it a few times, the last one was a couple of months ago in my td5 defender which doesn't have too much trouble. I watched two Patrol's drive straight up the big rock face! That's good to hear the Disco made it down and back up again, It's a very challenging track.
