On our High Country trip, I noticed a slight lack of power from our previous trip to the same area and vertually the same route, once we were there I also noticed the economy was quite a bit higher also and once we disconnected the camper, the economy didn't really change at all, I assumed it might have been the fact that we had a leaking fuel filter, but after thinking about it, I don't think this was the case as I think the leaking fuel filter was a result of a stick taking out the water sensor on the bottom of the fuel filter and that happened a couple of days later, so I have ruled that out.
One thing I did noticed also was that turbo lag seemed a bit worse, it's always been there, but this trip was a lot worse, especially climbing and offroad, you really had to be on it all the time, climbing from Harrietville to Hotham was a right pain, getting off the throttle and then back on it was terrible, much worse than on previous times on that road(which I hate)
The only difference between this trip and the previous trip is we had the car serviced two days prior and we had mud tyres on, we have ruled out the mud tyres re-power loss, as we have the road tyres back on and the lack of power is still noticable, Kerry will know for sure this afternoon on her trip up Ousley this arvo, economy is still up a bit though from normal though on her to and from work trips.
Our average economy for the trip towing our 750kg trailer and fully loaded was 14.7l/100ks, that's almost 2l/100ks difference, but the biggest difference was it never went below 14l/100ks for the entire trip, even when we weren't towing, every day when we got back to camp, it read anywhere from 14.3 to 15.1l/100ks or there abouts, this compared to the previous trip where we got down to mid 10s on the freeway, this trip, it just hovered around the mid 14s.
So we are thinking it may be the EGR on it's way or the sensor, only because that's what used ot happen to the D2 when the EGR sensor or the turbo modutator used to fail, other than that, I have nothing.
