If memory serves, Puma is the name of the Ford engine used in the Defender from 2007 to 2011 (2.4) and 2012 to 2016 (2.2). We all refer to these models as Puma Defenders or just plain 'ol Puma.
And to answer your question, yes, your unit is a Puma
I hope this helps.

Defender owners for some reason decided that only the Duratorque TDCi engines would get their nickname...Puma
No one runs around going:
"I've got a Defender Storm"
"I've got a Defender Romulus"
"I've got a Defender Gemini"
Only TDCi owners use their Project name..

Not if you read all the "extra cooling" threads [emoji48]
But yes they are a nice vehicle.

Land Rover also used the term to refer to the whole vehicle. My front axle for example has "PUMA MY15" written on the inspection label.
It also rolls off the tongue better than TDCI.

My 2010 Deafener has a sticker on the chassis with "Puma" on it. Pity the thing isn't as quiet and stealthy as the puma cat though.... :p

Would anyone really want to go around saying they've got a Gemini 🤔

According to my better half "Puma" stands for Please Understand My Addiction.

Holden used to sell a Gemini - it wasn't very good.

And Romulus is a Primary Planet for Romulan Empire and they weren't very good either..

Puma's are easily recognised by the hump on their bonnets... A camel in puma's clothing?

Is that a Power Bulge or are you just happy to see me?
