Lets do the steering guard thing again

Have been looking at sump/ steering protectors, and am having a problem with the location of my recovery hooks( I have the same set up as Weeds) Does anyone have one of these protectors that allows for the recovery hooks mounted at the front of the chassis rail unlike most of them that allow for Jate rings???? which sit back further on the chassis rail? God, I just read that and it doesnt even make sense to me.Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

Yes and no.....

Yes my guard is using the same holes as the ones you would put JATE rings on.

Some guards have recovery eyes in them....

Ohh mine is bent also.... dont know when i did it but noticed before i did the High country trip....

Ahhhhhhhhhh i know.... some turd jacked it up at the front off it.... so it has a slight bend in the middle........................

Hi,my recovery points mount on the outside of the chassis and the steering guard mounting points bolt on the inside of the chassis rail,
I had to narrow the tjm winch mount by 10mm

I just bought one of the Cooper's versions earlier in the week while I was in Sh!tney, and I'll be chucking it on this weekend. I'll take some pics while I am at it. I'll also dig up a link for the work up of the reinforcements I built to mount recovery hooks on TOP of the bullbar so they are out of the snot.

The diff guard was a piece of cake to fit and was on in 5 mins. The steering guard needed a little "persuasion" on one side only but otherwise was straightforward. Having looked at a few offerings on the market, I decided this was a good compromise between reasonable but not excessive strength, low weight and cost.

All in all, I am very pleased!

Is the steering guard any stronger than the standard? Or is it similar and just have the checkerplate on the front?

The wall thickness of the tube is thicker I am told (IOW I haven't measured it)

Not sure on strength as I have not had a standard one nor really looked at one. The checkerplate is rolled which will add a fair bit of strength.
