Hey you gurus! Can any one help with this one?
On the way to work this morning the battery light in the dash came on. First time ever. Except at starting. I stopped and checked everything I could see. Everything works and car start, stops and runs as normal.
I then noticed that the tacho wasn't working.
I am thinking maybe a fuse for the fdash.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
96, V8i Disco on gas.
Thanks guys.

Before you spend up on a new alternator, try checking fuses. On a MY95 disco, fuse 14 controls the power for the tacho and charging circuit. It also provides power to the gearbox temp sender and a few other things. If it blows, then the whole circuit goes out. In my case, a chafing wire on the gearbox temp sender that ran near the handbrake assembly kept shorting out and giving me no end of problems for weeks.
