Having a read and research about just how strong these late 5l40e are it seems that 550 to 600 Nm is possible and reliable with clever torque converter upgrades and line pressures/ clutch materials... I'm interested enough to give Rhys a call and ask him ( hope he isn't tired of me calling him...😮) about a path to achieve these numbers. I'm really happy with the capability towing our van but wouldn't mind a few more Nm ... reliably. Engine isn't the problem i would say...

I do recall that the final clutch carrier in the transmission could also twist apart from excessive torque and that was the main difference between 5l40 and 5l50 variants.
I could be wrong

late 5l40?
Mines had a late 2005 box and TC bolted in and it was the first 2002 one in the country, works a charm. Hope it outlasts the last rebuild that only went 70k.
