I'm sure my motor just popped. We're south of Brisbane on the motorway. Who do I take it to.

Man I have to settle down.

How far south. There is a LR dealer at Springwood. New and untested so far but they should be able to help. If you are closer to the Gold Coast end there is also a dealer in Southport.

Thanks. It's been towed to Springwood who seem a professional outfit. Very nice showroom and workshop. The service manager is aware of the issue but it can't be looked at until Tuesday.

I really hope my commitment to the brand is recognised.

Keep us in the loop. Queenslanders are known for their willingness to assist southerners. ;)

I live just across the motorway from the Springwood dealer if I can help in any way. Are you staying or going back to Sydney?

Thanks Mick. We're actually staying in Caloundra and were on our way to SeaWorld. I've called the NRMA and they should be, as I type, organising transportation for us.

Thanks a heap.

Only yesterday I popped into Land Rover on the Sunshine Coast to find out how soon the D5 will be here. The plan was to move to one of them as soon as they land.

My D4 must have heard the conversation.

Anyway, back to putting on a brave face for the kids. I've promised them this shouldn't wreck the dolphin show.

Calm... if it's spun a bearing you have some recourse..

As nice as the D5 is.. 1st version - you're game!!! Always buy V2.0 not V1 Beta..

Hey Catch-22 - Hope you're all doing OK. My biggest dread when travelling is that something dramatic happens to our D2 (same as your avatar) leaving all 7 of us stranded. Glad the aulro community can offer support, hope the official dealers can as well.

When you buy your D5, I'll happily take your D4 off your hands if you'd like :)

Yeah cheers. I think I'm a little calmer now. My 4yr old wanting piggy backs around the show room took my mind off it if only for a bit.

Disco is an 09 that I purchased at 5 years from a dealer in Sydney. As part of it I got the extended warranty for an additional two years. When bought from a dealer you can do this. So it's out of factory warranty and extended/extended warranty.

Deleted - got confused on what sort of Disco we were talking about.

LR haven't diagnosed it yet. But...driving at 100, clack clack, an eight of a second at most, motors at 0 rpm and I'm rolling in the right lane on the freeway.

No smoke and no burning oil smell. Attempt to start has the starter sound like it was spinning like it had no teeth. Didn't try again and waited for the tray.

I might be lucky and it could be a ceased idler or alternator or something pulley related, but then I remember the clack clack...

Sorry confused - we talking a D2 or D4 - up to the last post I thought we were talking D2.

2009 D4 HSE 3.0. Sorry, fuzzy brain....

I've started thinking about what damage it could have done to the box if the engine was locked up.

Far easier to say than do..... but you are right.

An old boss drummed into me many years ago, " never worry about what you can't control"

Seems this is one of those cases - Once they look at it, the facts will be known, until them you are best to try (hard I know) to enjoy the time with the kids and get your mind off it.

Hope it turns out to be something simple ..;)
