Just booked into GOE's TR Sand Mastery training weekend at the end of the month in Forster. Anyone else going?

Yes, I am going as well. I had originally paid for the one that was supposed to be on last November and emailed Gordon to say I was going and to get details for Stockton at that time. He emailed me back to say that that course had been cancelled due to the Land Council not allowing any more permits for Stockton Beach. I then told Gordon I'd roll over my payment to the February course.
However, I hope things are still ok about the Feb course. A week ago I rang the Big 4 caravan Park to book in for the weekend and they told me, that I was the second person to ring up and book in for the training weekend and they told me they knew nothing about the course or how many people were supposed to be coming. The Big 4 refused to take my booking until they clarified with the course organiser what was going on.
Big 4 took my number and said they would ring back. So far they have not rung me back. I also emailed Gordon to outline these issues about how Big 4 would not book me in and to find out what was the go. This was a week ago I emailed Gordon. So far he has not replied.
I assume it's all still on but am concerned about what's happening. My wife reckons I've done my dough.

This is common feedback with GOE, I doubt you've done your dough but he's notoriously hard to get in touch with.
Which beach are you doing the training on? Most if not all up there need a council permit which is about $50. While your there you should definitely try Mcbrides Beach track. So much fun!

No idea about which beach, not familiar with any in the area.
Yes, Gordon seems to be slow in replying via either text or email. It took me about 3 months to get the Compressor Plate and GOE booklet sent last year. If the caravan park knows nothing about the Sand Training Course I certainly hope the Council details have been organised. I'd be a little peeved if I got up there and found such requirements had been overlooked.

I too was down for Stockton beach last year and rolled my booking over when the email came out it would be rescheduled to Feb. Heard nothing more until a couple of weeks ago when i happened to look on the GOE site to see it would be at Forster instead. Nothing from Gordon till a few days ago confirming I was still on the list.
I think I was the first one to book at the caravan park as they hadn't heard of GOE or the course at the time.
Looking forward to it but the admin has been a bit dodgy so far.

You can get the permits for Forster at a bunch of places the day you go into the beach so don't worry about that part. Curious which beach is suitable though as none "that I know" have the dunes quite like Stockton.
To be honest the cancellation of Stockton for permit reasons sounds a bit odd too, hundreds of cars flock to that beach every day with no problem..
Either way Forster is an unreal spot so you can't go wrong spending time up that way, especially in a D4!

Why don't you join Range Rover Club (NSW) - index (http://www.rangeroverclubnsw.asn.au)
They run 4x4 courses for members, in fact next sand course is in early March.
BTW mostly Discos in club, and not necessarily RRs.

I emailed GOE through the website about the course and got a reply the next day. I assume any permits required are covered by the cost of the course. There is nothing in the info material about paying extra for one.
Looking forward to the weekend and catching up with a few fellow LR owners.

Those who say Gordon doesn't answer emails/Pms etc.
Have you actually tried ringing him???
There is a number on his website.I haven't had a problem when calling him.

The phone number on the website has the instructions "Do not ring this number- send SMS or email instead". However, I did try to ring the number last week with no success.

I just rang the service station on Lavis Lane - they're still selling Stockton Beach permits. 3 days for $10 or a year for $30.

This is what Gordon emailed me on 27th Oct 2016.
"I've only just changed the event, as the Land Council running Stockton have decided to halt any new commercial events for the rest of the season. I'm rescheduling for February 2017."

Remember Gordon lives in Perth, can't be too easy coordinating events on the other side of the country when all the local council wants to do is put road blocks in front of you.
His courses are very good, i'll try doing another one soon as a refresher.
Consider ourselves lucky to have someone that knows the ins and outs of the car better than we ever could willing to pass on knowledge. Without him all we would have is LR Experience and learn a fraction as much.

I had contact from Gordon last week and he has had some things going on which would draw focus for any of us. Not my story to tell but we should cut him some slack.

Commercial events are different Rob, usually not held where the general public are.
