Howdy all,
I'm looking at an ex army Land Rover, the owner has sent me an endless list of info about the truck including

*ARN number 49 -149
*it's a 1989 model,
*was some sort of pre-release model,
*it was never painted cammo
.... so I'm just wondering what it spent its life doing?

Perentie FFR ARN 49-149 -REMLR (http://remlr.com/sheds/scshed.html)

At a guess, the vehicle was damaged beyond economical repair so it was auctioned early (that's the "pre-release" bit, somewhat of a stretch). It's not an early Perentie. It would have been a regular FFR until whatever accident caused it to be sold off.

Syd Crawford rebuilt it a long time back. In Queanbeyan. Current owner, initials W.T., has overhauled it since. I remember it has the PTO winch.

Here's a photo on a REMLR event held a week before the attack on the WTC 9/11/01.

Syd had it fully set up incl radios. It was a rarity back then. In the early days the ADF sold them off quite freely, until JLR told them the cost of a replacement and then JLR stopped supplying altogether.

Brilliant info guys!
Yes the current owner "WT" in the ACT is selling it and to his credit has supplied a long list of all the work done, including putting a original engine in it, rebuilt the gearbox etc etc.

I'm umming and arrring about it as I am looking for one straight from auction thats unmolested by anyone and also thats a slow (but interesting) drive back home with it, the last Perth auction was only 6x6 that would have been a great buy but not really what I want, so I'm just getting a bit ancy now to get one!

If anyone is interested in it I will email the owner and pass on the email with all the info I have, he has said to me looking for round $8000, which I think is still a good buy.

Once again, cheers for the info, much appreciated.
