Hi everyone,
am in the process of building a 4.6 replacement for my 95 soft dash. I have read where some people have replaced their standard injectors with after market injectors that have different spray patterns. I have looked for posts on this but haven't found any as yet. I am wondering if anyone here has done this and what are the benefits, costs etc. Is it worth it??? The car is our daily drive, I use it for work and we do a fair number of ks each year. Any information will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Phil

Have a search of AULRO.
Pretty sure I once read a thread where you can get Ford Motorsport injectors from USA really cheap.Part numbers were listed. We had an 86 4.6 Rangie built buy the previous owner,it had 5.0L holden injectors.
If you are chasing cheap whorespower, get a higher pressure fuel pump and regulator to match the injectors.

I'm sure there was a thread or two about the Ford injectors in the P38 section.

A quick search brings up these threads which might be worth a read:

You won't find much on AULRO regarding Pedro's leather fetish now that the Mudpit has gone though :)

do your research Bikeman :)
most of what you read here is unfettered gossip.

Unfettered gossip makes for fine reading, many laughs and the occasional insight. 3 good reasons I joined AULRO :o
Thanks for all the insight....

I have found the best replacement injector to be a Bosch Yellow top Gen 11 as fitted to 4.6 mustangs and Lincolns.
They have 4 laser cut holes, and have the right plug shape, correct length, correct flow, and a slot to fit the little clip into the injector manifold.

I have also used The same spec in Bosch Gen111 yellow top injectors but they don't have the slot for the clip and I used 2 orings on teh bottom to keep them in place.
They are identical in performance.

So if your LR injectors are working is their any advantage to changing over?

Mine were working when I changed.
IMHO you get better idle stability in a 3.9 anyway. Idle used to deteriorate after a while with the old Lucas injectors. It was cheaper to get a set of reco injectors from the states than to have the Lucas ones cleaned. The problem with cleaning is that if one or more die in the cleaning process you are up for a new Lucas at big cost . Ask me how I know as 2 died on me.
Its hard to say whether you have better performance or economy as in my case I had many other modifications . However I felt that the engine ran more crisply and I had better economy. At the end I was getting about 17lper 100 around town and about 15 on the open road towing a 1000Kg trailer at speed limit.

The 14CUX fires all the injectors in one bank all together and some obviously fire against a closed valve so this may mitigate against the better vaporisation of the four hole injectors. I felt it was worth it.
