hehe... yep i like that idea of the ding tally... but probably shouldn't publicise it too much though or people might start to think that you.... ummmm, i mean, we're irresponsible and the 4wd lobbyists already have enough to bitch about https://www.aulro.com/afvb/
So it'll be a secret tally to only be discussed and laughed at between committee members https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

I suppose he has you on a technicality there Josh. Perhaps we do need to define some criteria or simply put it to the vote. Having said that, it should be fairly obvious who at least is in the running for any award, as to date we have had smashed windows, bumpers, head lights, bent panels, some stuff Camo did to his etc so, cracked plastic doesn't really get a look in at this early stage
Of course, as this will be a much coveted award, I predict we may see some late entries from the likes of Steinzy simply driving head on into the nearest tree......that should put your fancy bonnet protector to the test!!

Valid point.....how about entries must have cost a certain amount to fix
Man, this contest is really getting technical and a bit competitive for my Disco 8O Still, I put Camo in the lead just now after the Ormeau night run incident, with Josh a close second for his dissagreement with a tree also at Ormeau. Nice work guys - no I am certainly not in the running for any ding award
Firstly because the misses would kill me if I broke somthing - so I would never get past one ding.
and secondly my finances don't currently support the the ability to compete for this award.
But I can assure you that I will captuer every ding that I'm present for on camera to assist with the judging.
And that I will use bush mechanics to ensure that everyone can get home I one piece.

But I wont claim that as it is still over 95 % attached and usable. The rear light still works and popped back in so I guess I will miss out on that to. :x
But depending on the cost to get a replacment rear parking sensor if it cost more than $50.
I would like to put that in even though it is a bit lame.

Whoo - Calm Down!!!!!
It works out more than my $119 bonnet stone deflector & the Hayman reece tow bar cover.
But I could say that the trip last weekend cost me 2 rear air springs @ $160 each and that I stuffed 4 shocks at Landcruiser Park at a replacement cost of $220 per shock and because I busted the air springs it has led to extra wear on the compressor which now needs to be replaced at a cost of $550.
So that puts me at a grand total of $1869.

Alright, alright.......here's the deal, to try and keep things simple....you asked for it
AWARD CATEGORIES
1. Most amount of damage from one single incident
I would consider an "incident" to be damage sustained to the members/candidates car in question, as a DIRECT result of trying to execute an off road manoeuvre on a piece of terrain/obstacle other than an access track/road. Excluded from entry are general wear and tear issues such as, engine failures, suspension failures, drive train failures (unless an item has broken or failed DURING a single manoeuvre). Damage caused whilst on access tracks simply driving to and from particular areas are not included (unless something "out of the ordinary" happens to the car or driver in question whilst on the said road)
Final costs to replace items damaged during any incident will not be taken into account, simply number of panels/items on the said car damaged and how bad the end result looks.
Staked tyres, scratched panels, lost number plates, broken fan belts, electrical problems, are not included
2. Most spectacular incident as voted by members
This category is for the benefit of spectators/passengers only and entries can only be submitted by the said spectators/passengers and not by the driver them self. "Incident" includes a member/candidate executing either successfully or unsuccessfully a chosen SINGLE manoeuvre which resulted in spectacular damage, very lucky escape (not to be confused with "Best piece of driving"), crowd pleasing antics, or simply a manoeuvre with WOW factor.
3. Best piece of driving as voted by members
This category is for the benefit of spectators/passengers only and entries can only be submitted by the said spectators/passengers and not by the driver them self. "Best" includes successfully and correctly negotiating/executing a single manoeuvre/section of challenging terrain which a driver sets out to conquer and which tests the skills of the said driver and the capabilities of the vehicle they are driving.
4. Worst piece of driving as voted by members
This category is for the benefit of spectators/passengers HOWEVER, entries CAN be submitted by the driver them self. "Worst" includes an incident where a driver sets out to tackle a single manoeuvre/section and badly negotiates the said section resulting in a failed execution of the manoeuvre. This category includes general bad driving whilst driving to and from trips and has no geographical or time limitations/boundaries.
Sub Notes
1. All submissions to any of the above categories are to be submitted to this thread and are to be voted/decided on by GCLRO members only at an agreed date and time, where all members/candidates are present - either in person or by proxy.
2. Entries can be included in more than one category as a result of one single incident; however, the final decision rests with GCLRO members.
3. All entries to any of the above categories must be witnessed and verified by another GCLRO member.
4. Where possible, all entries are to be accompanied by photographic evidence or film footage to support an entry. This will also aid other members during the awards evening accurately asses or re-evaluate the merits of each entry.
That should muddy the water a bit. Happy to discuss some of the finer points in order to define the criteria for each award fully.

Hey All,
Just adding my ding to the tally and we have......................One dint/ scratches above right rear tail light, one fully cracked with bark still lodged in the tail light itself and some surface scratching below the tail light. Am yet to get a cost, but Im sure I will have to lose at least 1 nut  . So whilst my tyre shafting was poo pooed 8O , this I know has to count https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ ,

Only kidding mate, but it's something I have thought about...especially as I seem to want to tackle some of the harder stuff these days. Inevitably it will lead to some proper panel damage at some point

Well Mick, Boltz and I were out having a play at Ormeau last Saturday we were all having trouble getting up a pretty steep and muddy hill. After a bit of right foot we all managed to make it up. As I was at the back of the three cars when we started off again I was still on quite a reasonable slope and had issues gaining traction which led to a snapped axle and a broken CV which then resulted in 2hrs of hand winching and snaching.
It was a very interesting day to say the least 8O
