Classic gurus,
Can someone outline the workings of the 90 model speedo - mine has developed a delay before reading when moving off rest, at speeds below 40km/h seems to read too low and then at speeds above 70 or so reads to high.
I know there is a cable driven dynamo of some kind with electrical feed up to the speedometer. Is the problems likely to be with the dynamo thingy, its drive cable or in the electronics of the speedometer itself? Any other electronic components in the circuit to the speedo?
Any advice appreciated.

If it's anything like my RRC, the whole instrument binnacle has only two electrical connectors, no cable. In which case the speed sensor may be the issue - mounted near the transfer case from memory (don't quote me though, I've never removed it).

If you can transfer the speedo gauge between binnacles, I have a spare binnacle with a busted tacho that I'm happy to send up your way.

Thanks drover for your kind offer.
I'll have a look into the speed sensor - I read in another forum that the electrical output can be checked by measuring resistance at so many ohms occurring four times per revolution.
If the sensor is ok I may take you up on that binnacle.

have a look underneath. There is a speedo cable leaving the transfer case behind the brake drum. It runs over to an electronic "component" that is mounted up beside the gearbox. Check the wiring for chaffing etc... :)
