"Engine on" fuse in Passenger Compartment Fuse Box?

I am wiring up a dash cam and would like a power source from the fuse box behind the lower glove box that is only active when the engine is running? Any idea what fuse number may provide this?

I can find fuses that are active when the car is awake, but I don't necessarily want the cam activating every time I open the door...

Do you want power when ignition on or engine running - I have my dash cam on when ignition is on (and when accessories on). This way I have the option of having the dash cam on when stopped if a need to record something like when parked in a dodgy area or pulled over by the good boys in blue and want the conversation recorded [bigsmile1]. Hasnt happened though.

I just used a piggy back fuse on the cigarette lighter fuse.

Fuse 53 (cig lightet) goes active when the vehicle wakes up (open door). Curiously, fuse 54 is marked "Trailer, Ingition on" but seems to activate when the vehicle wakes up, not on pressing of the ignition button? I would prefer it activating on pressing of the ignition button but will settle on waking up if required.

Sorry - obviously different on the D3/RRS to the D4.

Try the fuse that controls the rear 12v socket( rear console power socket) - is Fuse 19 in mine but may be different in yours - it may not activate when you open the door but when you have ignition on.

Hey Chris, how did you get on with this? I'd like to do the same with my just purchased dash cam.
(engine running preferred to every time it wakes)

ScottHi Scott. I did find an "awake" powered fuse behind the glove box. Buggered if I can remember now what number it was though... I used one of those piggy back fuse holder thingos into the fuse holder panel.

Yeah I figured “awake” rather than engine running would be the only option. There’s a few in that category so I’ll piggy back one of the non-critical ones. Pity the earth bolts are behind the lock panel, it’d be nice if there was one in the fuse compartment so I didn’t have to pull apart more trim.

I grabbed the back of the cig plug LHS in the front console, was in there anyway and had no"add a circuits" the fuse for that is a good one for a dash cam
