View Full Version : Boy/Girl Pedestrian crossing lights

I believe that the boy lights are whistling at & catcalling the new girl lights in Melbourne. Could be a concern that they are therefore not doing their jobs properly & subconsciously biased pedestrian might get hurt.
What does everyone else think? Should we form a pressure group/think tank/commission to make some recommendations? When did today become April 1?

What I found interesting was the Female from the think tank advocating the girls in dresses for the crossing lights, was in fact wearing trousers (ie a pants suit). So are the lights at the moment men or women? It seems to me that women wear mens clothing anyway so whose to say that the existing lights were males only? I don't see any gender appendages dangling down!. I think this gender thing is way off track. We should, or as in this case. the company should spend the money trying to apease all these "femanists" on more important social issues rather than a complete waste of money and time satifying some minority that does not like the ways things are in Australia. It seems to me all Australian governments have lost the plot and dont have our concerns foremost in their minds.

With the obesity epidemic looming, stick figures are non representative of 75% of the population. I demand fatter figures on ped crossing lights.

aaah ....................... Inc, "where there is life there is hope"

Yes, there are people in this world who think this is an important issue or at least think that they need to be seen as thinking this is an important issue. [bigsmile1]

But in actual fact they are just 'smashed avocado' munching politically correct morons of shallow intellect who (basically) should have been drowned at birth to help ensure the collective intelligence of the human race. [thumbsupbig]

Now normally I couldn't make such a statement here as it could be construed as a 'personal attack', in this case on 'person or persons unknown' as no one has yet come out in support of this lunacy but I'm confident that no one on this forum (who is stable or (in)sensible enough to own a Landrover) could possibly hold this view. [wink11]

So I figure I'm safe from censure [bigsmile1].

I'm even confident that the latte swilling, Tofu eating hairdresser car driving Evoque and D4 members of this forum are far too sensible to hold this idiotic view (don't know about Q5, Prius and Lexus owners though), but this is a Landrover forum so who cares. [bigrolf]

Landrover owners couldn't and wouldn't stoop this low, they are far too sensible.

The next time I'm at those lights, I'll walk across witout any regard to what they indicate (if safe to do so).
When Mr Plod stops me and asks why I crossed against the lights, I shall reply "They did not apply to me as I am a man. They were indicating women shall not cross."
How do you think I'll go with that?

Honestly, what a storm in a tea cup.

Perhaps they should bring back the old signs.

That whole "identify" crap is just that...

By physical limitations you can only be male or female (or hermaphrodite although that's by exception) regardless of what your "head" says (that's a different condition).

No matter if I "identify" as a Purple Hippopotamus or an Alien crab from Planet Zarcon there is no getting around reality.

I'm only mid 40s. I can't choose to identify as 28.....

Unbelievable rubbish. This became a news item on the same day here in WA when all male radio commentators were replaced by wimmin! What an absolute load of garbage.
How about people being employed because they're good at what they can do and signs like this just being accepted as a safety thing without bring this feminist garbage into it?
Being an old fart I still hold the door open when going into the pub as a matter of politeness for those coming out, man or beast, .... and I've never yet had a woman complain that I'm a sexist bastard. [bigsmile]

Opinion polls prove nothing. What was the ratio of men to women polled? Men often think women get a fair go, but many women think they don't.

I'll happily admit my wife is smarter than me.

True but I suspect an opinion poll of over three hundred participants would have more credibility over an opinion poll of just one.

These really amused me when I was in Santiago.

Plaza des Armes in Santiago has these walk signs.

I am further amazed that I was able to find a youtube video of them.
