i will be buying another landrover soon for parts and the body on it is pretty rooted so i am thinking of converting it into a camper trailer by cutting the front off from the firewall. Weilding an A frame on it and replace the diff with a trailer axle.

Something like that but single wheeled and keep the suspension and stuff on it.

Thoughts and ideas?

The Landrover rear suspension and chassis are designed to carry a load of about a tonne plus the weight of the back of the vehicle. Unless you are planning on a very heavy camper, both the springs and the chassis are unnecessarily heavy. The other issue, which this has a bearing on, is that if you use the full length up to the windscreen, then the tow bar weight gets excessive unless you are very careful with where you put things.

With these thoughts in mind, i would be inclined to build a simple much lighter frame, and would give serious consideration to restricting the length to the tub.

True i had not consider weight a factor yet but i wish to keep the cab on the front thou as the extra room would be a bonus so i will have to work my way around that.
And yes it wouldn't be a very long towing point.
Maybe from the back windscreen back would be the go?

I was going for easy thats why i was saying keep the chassis. But weight is definitely a good factor. Light weight frame sounds good.
Definitely gave me some food for thought thou! :)
