my business workstation has been playing up for quite a while so after it played up yet again last night I was forced to bite the bullet.

could not bring myself to buy a new MacBook Pro at the prices they are currently charging so I bought a used macpro instead.

used but in pristine condition unit that has just came off lease it seems.

Mac Pro 5.1 A1289 EMC2629 "Twelve Core" 2.66
Dual 2.66 GHz Six Core 32-nm Xeon X5650 (Westmere) 256k of level 2 cache per core and 12 MB of "fully shared" level 3 cache per processor.
32 GB of 1333 MHz DDR3 ECC SDRAM (takes a max of 128 GB)
512GB APPLE SSD
2 TB (7200 RPM, 32 MB cache) 3Gb/s Serial ATA hard drive
18X dual-layer "SuperDrive"
ATI Radeon HD 5770 graphics card with 1 GB of GDDR5 memory.

hopefully will see me through a few years.

should be here early next week...

hope the current windows 10 machine lasts that long :p

Apples have cores, right? This one has 12, so is the equivalent of 12 "standard" Apple units of computing ability.

SDRAM - well, obviously, that means Super Dog Reads a Magazine. And you have to admit that a dog that can read a magazine is by any definition "super" !

SSD - he's a Super Sonic Dog too.

Superdrive - jeez, he can drive too ! That's one talented dog !

GDDR5 memory - Golly! Damn dog remembers 5 memories ! (Just meal times and walkies I guess...)

Anyway I hope that's cleared that up for you.
