No 1. Can anybody shed some light on what the humming noise is that emits from the engine area of my 2010 RRS after I shut it down. It can sound for up to 40 seconds. Anyone got any ideas?
No 2. I cant seem to get my dash trailer light to blink when towing my van or trailer. As a matter of fact the light doesnt light up when I first power up the vehicle. Anyone got any ideas?

I think the humming is just normal shutdown. Mine does it. Squeaking from the EGRs too sometimes.

Does your trailer have LED lights? Not enough current to tell the car it's there. Lots of threads on that stuff. I don't worry for the 7x4 unbraked trailer but I'd worry if it was a bigger load and things such as sway assist and the gearbox ECU weren't adapting.

The hum is the Egrs - they go through a sequence (self clean??) when you engine is shut down.

On the trailer light - do you have the correct LR trailer wiring loom fitted. If not the car will not normally recognise a trailer being attached.

Thank you peoples,

Item 1 solved.

Item 2. Yes I have the landrover 7 pin factory plug. My Caravan and trailer have the right connections. I used to tow them with my old D3 and the trailer light worked fine. I have checked all fuses. When I power up and the vehicle does the dash display check I don't even get the green trailer light to illuminate then. I am sure the vehicle self levels when I put the van or trailer on. It maybe that the previous owner had those inline diode things installed to stop the lights from pulsating. I will make inquiries about that. Tks for your help everyone.

If you had a diesel D3 you should have heard the same noise.
