Gday all
Just back from the crissy trip in the Humffray/Wonnangatta ( NE Vic)part of the world. A successful experimental trip where new engel, new roof top tent and new rear storage unit all performed well. But the 31's did rub at the rear and....
I was hoping that someone has some pics of how they have trimmmed their gaurds to fit 31's or the like.
The best of new years to all on the forum.

this is for a S1 disco not the S2 with the longer rear end!
measure from the seam the rear, vertical neer the tail light.
bottom is 310mm from seam to new point
middle is inline with the bottom edge of the rubber strip
seam to new point is 400mm
top is the finish point. top of the rubber strip seam to new point
is 470mm.
mark these 3 points onto your orig guard with some masking tape
and a pencil. see how they look, you might have to add some more
points between the others and draw an arc.
when your happy start cutting!
i used good quality tin snips, can use jig saw or air hacksaw.
you have more controll with tin snips.
cheers phil.

it is also known as a Camel Cut.
31's will not need to be trimmed.
32's yes.

Interesting as I didn't need to trim when I had 31s fitted but I did with the 32s. When I did that I went the whole hog & got flares all 'round.

Interesting that others seem to have not had any need to trim using 31's as I have hit on both sides this trip. However I think it will just require a minor trim of the gaurd fold as opposed to an extented cut like in the pics above. Replies much appreciated and when I go 32's I will know exactly what to do.
thanks

Hi Lindsay,
Are they 31. 10R15s or 245/75R16s?
I put 245/75R16s BFG M/Ts on mine and only cut the bottom part of the guard that folds under the panel at 45deg and folded the lip of the inner guard at the rear in a bit, so far no rubbing or touching at full articulation.
I would take a pic and show you except for the fact it is covered in mud and the alternator has crapped out and the car is imobile at present

Hey Peter
where did you get the flares from. I have a 94 Disco that I am thinking of putting 35" Simex on to play in the mud. It will also include a lift kit when I find one as well. does anyone here know where I could get either??
Cheers Blythe

Blitz, I got the flares done at Roverland in Melb but the flares are a std kit item that you should be able to DIY (easier if you have a 3 door). With the 35s you'd be looking at a 3" lift I'd say.
Darwin isn't that flush with places I'd trust my Landy to though. :?

Why 35's??
32" ET's work out to be 33.4" and thats what i run on the Fender....
Less Stress....

I pretty much did what DW did to his, also Series 1 disco, it looks a bit rough, but i dont care because the tyres dont touch the gaurds now.
All i did was measure back 8cm from the bottom lip of the gaurd (behind the tyre) towards the rear of the car. I then looked up the inner edge of the guard behind the wheel to see where the highest mark from the tyre was on the gaurd, this gave me an idea of how much i needed to trim so i wouldnt have to trim more later. I went up a centimetre or so from the highest rub mark on the gaurs and ruled a line down to my mark 8cm on the bottom of the guard. I then used a grinder to cut the excess off, making sure to cut about a centimetre inside my ruled line so i had a lip to bend back to strengthen the guard. Matt
