Good to see Starr Performance getting in on the 4WD business. Peter has worked on a couple of HSV's I used to have. He built a supercharged caprice (or was it a statesman) for a customer which put out 500kw. I was lucky enough to go as a passenger around Winton in it while Peter Starr drove, that was an experience.

No, was only down there for the Sunday.

My son asked if I would take him again (went down for 2004) this year seemed to be quieter, and lacked some of the colour and flair from then. From my point of view I found it pretty boring but he enjoyed it ( A very small sacrifice from my perspective).

There was an accident on saturday night. A ute lost control and crashed into the croud. 4 injured. That might have cooled things down a bit. Fridays cruise streets were full. We cruised the landy through before setting out for Ace's. It got tones of attention from the croud but then it did dwarf nearly everything else there. 8)

Its Armygeddon

And looks completely different each year, first it was that dark green, then it was a desert cam last year, this year it was a snow/black kinda cam.

Done by army apprentices, and goes to shows as a recruitment thing. Does awesome burnouts apparantly, but each summernats its been to (3) it gets on the donut pad, fires up its rear four tyres and does a diff about 15 seconds into it.

total budget thus far is approaching 1.8 million dollars.

was a perentie 6x6, now mostly nissan crap and bling all thats rover is about 3 foot of the chassis, the steering box and the body.

I went for a bit of a look around Summernats on the weekend. Here are a couple of pictures of "Armygeddon" in its latest paint scheme

And I noticed that there was a RR Sport (Black) NSW Rego visiting the stand for part of Sunday. Didnt get close enough to recognise the vehicle or driver, must have been some 'brass' though involved with the display.

i had a quick look at some pics of the replacement burnout car that is being built at apprentice school (or what ever its called these days)

yep it appears armygeddon is being retired.......keep your eye on the auction sites

the new car is an old falcon, dunno what model but its in its early stages of build up....the rear doors have been converted to suicide doors and the motor is being built, well it was attached to an engine stand in the pic i viewed, other than that i cannot tell you much more

will try and get the pics next week

Hi weeds, I believe the replacement is a 77/78 model LTD. Basically the same shape as an XC Falcon, except for the front and rear ends...

Last year (or was it 2007?) at the Gold Coast Indy Cars Armygeddon blew the motor performing a burnout for the crowds. It happened in front of my brother who was watching the race from one of the appartments. Maybe they never bothered repairing it?

Armygetton would have been so much cooler if they had kept the 4BD1T in there and done this to it:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ws3D62pBI0A&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ws3D62pBI0A&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/pJ88ViL7h6A&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/pJ88ViL7h6A&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Maybe even triple turbo and 100psi boost

Sounds like it would have been more reliable :D

It was only last year that Ol'Mate organised a fantastic day at Latchford Barracks for the members of the NEVLRC. :)

We spent the morning photographing Armygeddonn and believe it nor not, riding in this fantastic vehicle. The NCO's and apprentices responsible for the building and maintenance of Armygeddon gave up their Saturday morning just for our visit - which we appreciated greatly.

The Senior NCO present did indicate Armygeddon had reached the end of it's time and would be retired to the Army Museum at Bandianna (just down the road a couple of k's). He was also excited about the new project - a Ford LTD.

The morning was particularly interesting regarding the strict rules attached to the apprentices working on the vehicle etc. All the work is completed "after hours" and it is considered a great honor to gain a place on the Armygeddon Team.

I have to admit I did my best to get to the head of the queue when rides in the vehicle were on offer. And it was worth every second:)
