Hi All,
I've had coolant loss in my 2011 2.4 since new, the local dealers under warrantee could never solve it. 6 years later the same old story has been going on. Last week I decided to replace the hose clamps on the heater tap for real clamps as there was a little evidence of pink coolant there. fast forward 3 days and I notice the engine has made a little puddle[bigsad] so I investigate and coolant is dripping from around the oil cooler thermostat.
I order a new one( genuine) and go to install it yesterday. I check them against each other and lo and behold, the new one with he same part number has the thermostat spring and metal plunger , the original on the car has none??????????? I looked and felt inside the cooler as deeply as I could and found no evidence of the missing bits.
What the blazers is going on??? I installed it anyway as the part numbers are the same.
has anyone experienced this? is this right?
I do suspect however that this has been the cause of the coolant leak over the years as the o-ring on the removed one looks a bit rough and faint traces of pink on the housing.
Cheers
Mal
