After there was some discussion regarding these tyres in the thread https://www.aulro.com/afvb/l319-discovery-3-and-4-a/241958-max-tyre-width-17x7-5-rim.html. I said that if I purchased them when I received my GOE 18" rims, then I would post up here.
The rims arrived on Tuesday and today I bought the tyres. The main driver was price ($190 each from Tempe Tyres - $950 for a set of 5, $650 less overall than I could get D697s). But I am also curious as to how they will go and whether they will meet their advertising hype. The fact that they are Australian designed also pressed a couple of buttons [bigsmile]. Their web site is here Monsta Tyres | All Terrain and Mud Terrain Tyres (http://monstatyres.com).
First impressions - they look good, but that could be because I am so happy to have 18s with ATs. On balance they tyres look good, not too aggressive but like proper tyres.
Noise - just some freeway driving on the Sydney M5 and M7 on the way home - yes, noisier than the OEM Goodyears, but I expected that. Overall not noisy enough to matter.
Pics will follw when it stops raining long enough for me to get some (and also get 5 19" rims with tyres out of the car and stored away.
I was hoping to get out on Sunday to Newnes with the trip that Scouse has organised, but the weather may put a stopper to that.
Anyway I will continue to update as and when.
Cheers
Mike
PS. By the way 5 x 19" Land Rover rims with tyres will appear in the Markets shortly. 4 have done 20K km and the other has never touched the road. PM me if you know anyone who might be interested. Price is negotiable.

Interested to hear how they go. Planning to run full time or just off-road with second set of wheels Tombie?

Pretty much full time.
I'm too lazy to change tyres.

They are XL (rather than LT) according to the thread title, confirmed by the notation on the pictured tyre.

Any update on hows these go offroad? I'm really keen on a pair for my D2a. I wonder how they compare with more aggressive AT's.
The tread depth seem quite low (under 10mm perhaps?) I'm even tempted to try the mud warrior instead.
Its impossible to find a decent review anywhere on the internet.

Its been a few months so any one have a review of either the AT's or MT's especially in 18 " ?

A friend has had a set of 17" MT's recently fitted to a Pajero.
He is very happy at this stage with them, he has been 4wding with them and they work well.
He has also been on a trip to the snow and is also happy with the road noise level being pretty good.
Says it's actually quieter at 100kph than at 60-80kph.

That's good to hear Rich. I'm thinking of giving the MTs a go when I get the 18" steelies.

Sorry loanrangie somehow missed your PM. Tyres are holding up well. Still haven't got off road, just no time. But handle well on road. On very smooth surfaces, like the new bit of the M4 here in Sydney, there is a bit of noise, on other surfaces there is more road noise than OEM but I expected that.
so far so good
Cheers

Fitted this morning, $915 for 5 fitted, hardly any road noise and seem to handle OK - and they look good.

Drove mine out to Bathurst and back today. The Monstas are noisier than the Nitto Terra Grapplers with a whine I can hear with the music playing at a reasonable volume. I can put up with it if they are better on wet roads than the Nittos. If not I'll get rid of them and get Nittos.

Grip really well on wet tar and very nice in mud and on rock.
Intrusive hum on the highway but I can live with it.. it’s reduced somewhat as the square corners on the tread blocks bed in.
Seriously couldn’t go past them, at $220 each delivered [emoji48]

Have you ever run the Achilles MT Tombie? Wondering about comparative performance.

Yes the price is very nice, $195 fitted for my ATs and I just bought 4 in case I didn't like them. If they work well on wet roads I'll buy a fifth. I thought about the MTs for the higher load rating but decided the noise would annoy me.

It was bucketing down coming home tonight with lots of water on the road and not a hint of aquaplaning , pretty happy with them so far.

We've finally had some decent rain and the resultant wet roads and I can confirm that the wet weather performance is much better than the Nitto Terra Grapplers I had on previously.
One particular roundabout (off camber) that the Nittos would always understeer on no matter how slow I went in produced no understeer with the Monstas. Corners which I would approach with trepidation previously are now driven through with no hint of slippage. There is more noise but it is acceptable.

I've got my D3 now looking for tyres, I'd love to give the Monster AT's a go and I found them in 285 60 r18, very nice size but does anyone know about potential rubbing issues? It'd be great to fit them at $205 each.

Bought a set of Falken Wildpeak ATW3 for $205 a Tyre plus you get a $100 e-gift card by redemption.
265/60R18 and are a really good fit, nice aggressive look and very good on the wet roads so far.
No scrubbing anywhere, even at full lock on access height (fitted to a 12 D4).
