I was always under the impression that around the world production of of the 2 door ceased in about 1981 when we went to the 4 doors as per this reference Range Rover - Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Range_Rover)

However over on another non LR forum I go on, they are discussing this vehicle Our vehicles — Valencia Classic Vehicle Consulting (http://www.valenciaclassicvehicles.com/new-page/) (scroll down) a 1989 LHD VM Diesel 2 door.

Looking at ebay UK there are also more

RANGE ROVER CLASSIC TWO DOOR, 1987, LEFT HAND DRIVE | eBay (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RANGE-ROVER-CLASSIC-TWO-DOOR-1987-LEFT-HAND-DRIVE-/272583575632?hash=item3f773f4850:g:3GgAAOSwuxFYwac Z)

So obviously 2 door production continued in LHD until at least 1990?? Were these still made by LR in the UK or maybe on behalf of LR by Santana??

Cheers

I was told by British off road that JLR recently built a couple more for sale -figure quoted was 130k pounds . Not sure if true but if it is then production only just ceased[emoji106]. FYI latest LHD 2 Door I've seen was either Spain or Portugal and I think 91/92

The French had the same 2-door versions as well, I believe till the early 90's. All build in Solihull. The 'new' grill was an easy give away. The LHD for the Spanish and French markets had the short gearstick (R380?) and new desgined seats.
My AUS 2-door is a AA144xxx build which I think puts into 84, so probably one of the last 'regular' 2-doors. You will also see brochures around that period with both 2 and 4 door covered. Those 2/4-doors had the LT-77 5 speed gearbox and a different centre console. M

94 is when the French 2dr commercial rrc stopped production iirc.

Thanks for the responses - as I indicated I never appreciated that any 2 doors were made much past 1981. So these 2 doors continued to be made in the UK and continued right up until when the P38 was introduced.

AFAIR I recall seeing that the last RRC off the line was a two door for France or Sweden or somewhere.

I texted uninformed this arvo re this as I didn't realise two door production went for so long and he remembers seeing this too, he said they were windowless van variants (commercials) bound for France.

A few of those French 3.9 2 doors made their way to FIA races like the 24hrs 4x4 of Paris and Rally Raids in Northern Africa.

Ah, is that where they came from! I wondered about two-doors in those races and didn't connect it with the French utilitaire models.

The ones build in the 90's seemed to be less modified. Guess it was to stay in FIA production class. Mainly 2 shocks per corner, Fagix rims and so on. I think there was at least 1 RR racing in the 24hrs of Paris with factory support from LR France. They also had a Disco 1 in green/yellow running. m

They also produced the limited edition CSK 2 Door in Black that was the fastest RR at the time
of its realased .... in 90 or 91 I believe.

According to Taylor and Dimbleby in their book, Range Rover the complete story the last 2 Door was built on 11 January 1994.
