Hi all. First post in these forums eva. I own a 2002 td5 disco. My question relates to my mates 1999 td5 disco. It breaksdown when revved to 3000+rpm. After a bit of part swapping type troubleshooting, my mate found his waistgate actuator (which is a diaphram...or so I am told), was not holding a vaccuum. In fact he can suck air through it like a drinking straw. He checked the actuator on my disco, and mine holds a vaccuum on his tongue. So one could only presume that this is most likely the problem....well my mate is fairly certain. So he decided to ring around town (Townsville,Qld) and try and buy one. After the local LR dealer told him that they could not supply just the waistgate actuator, he would have to buy a whole turbo, he went to a turbo shop and was told exactly the same thing. The turbo shop also told him that "this could not be the problem as waistgate actuators dont die....the turbo will die long before the actuator". Now, I know nothing about cars except for one thing.... if ya want a 4WD that goes longer and further, buy a Landie. So if anybody has any kind of infomation about this problem or know where a waistgate actuator can be purchased, please reply. Thanks in advance.

https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ My mate sent the actuator to a Garrett rep in Sydney for a rebuild. Also, it would seem that it possible to buy the actuator without buying the whole turbo, as some money hungry companies will tell you. So thanks for the help again Stevo. Your links proved valuable. https://www.aulro.com/afvb/
