Hi Guys
I have returned to haunt you lot
Back from Albany,6 days of holidays in winter, pretty windy and drizzling.
Went fishing a few times, the boy caught 3 small fish,I didnt get any,was out yesterday avo, hooked something big but it bit me off     had another run 10 mins later but I didnt manage to set the hooks
Black betty goes really well on the beach, espescially in the real soft stuff, expirimented with traction control/cdl/tyre pressures, will do a seperate story.
BlackBetty has an electronic "glinch" which I will need some info on,will post in the tech section.
I caught up with Taz and his mates, they were jumping off the earth and flying with the birds 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O.Taz is quite a tallented hang glider pilot,it was great to see them in action,NOT FOR ME https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ One of Taz's mates had a R/C glider, that was very impressive,it was a "combat" glider and the idea is to have a pair of them and dogfight to knock one another from the sky, they are virtually indestructible!!!!!! I can see me and Lindsay getting a pair at some stage,Lindsay loved them.
Had a great time, will add a few pics once Im finished reading.

Andrew,

:x

Some of us had to stay at home and keep things ticking over while you were having all that fun https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

This combat glider thing sounds interesting any photo's of that for the record?

Sorry to hear about the gremlin but at least it is fodder for the technical forum.

BTW welcome back mate (and safely)https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

Hi Mahn
Didnt get a good pic of the glider it was too hard, plus the guy kept dive bombing us so if you took your eyes off it you were liable to wear it.
Apparently they are around $150 plus radio gear, they are basically a dense foam rubber(like thong rubber) wrapped in insulation tape, hence the indestructabillity. He could hover do aerobattics dive etc, obvuiosly there is a skill level needed.

Hi Andrew,

Good to see you back, dosent sound like a good fishing holiday but at least you were able to get some experience with Black Betty. As always each 4wd is different and the more you experiment the better you understand how it will work best for you.

With a bit of luck I will catch up with you soon...........for a dry Harvey run...........the type that gets the cobwebs out of the suspension.

Looks good there. The beaches out this way are all soft as! Ten vehicles had to get rescued in one day last week off one small stretch of beach alone. CALM even closed a couple of beaches. something about tides being too high lately, coupled with a lack of rain.

I've got to get that second set of wheels. The 60 profile on the 18"s is too low to get any real flotation, even when I go down to 16psi.

Had trouble getting up one very sandy hill the other day and I must have bumped the voice command button on the steering wheel. As I was backing down to have another go, the voice command thing started saying 'Sorry" (which it says if it doesn't understand your command). Had three kids in the back who thought the car was apologising for not making it up the hill! 8)

Now you need to teach it to say"OH WHAT A FEELING" when you pass a bogged toyota.
The tides seemed to be fairly low whilst we were at Albany, the sand was plenty soft enough higher up away from the water.
Its along time since I went to Esperance, but I remember long beaches with hard packed sand that squeeled when you walked on it.
My missus wants to go to Esperance sometime, she has a cousin over there she hasnt seen for a long time.

Hello Andy,

The sand still squeals, but theres not a lot of hard packed stuff around at the moment. Blokes who've been here for twenty years or more tell me it'll right itself once the tides get lower, although a lot of them tell me they've never seen it this soft.

When I went out last and had the trouble with the suspension, all of us got stuck more than once (100series with BFG muddies, Jackaroo and GQ patrol). I wnet down the same beach in the Suby two years ago and didn't get stuck once.

If you get a chance to come over some time, send me a PM.

Andy,
Where you back at work yesterday morning 10/01/06? Passed a heap of shire trucks heading out of Williams down the Boddington road early in the morning on the way home. Too early to call in if you were still on holidays. Was looking for your shed though, must be the other end of town. I went through to Narrogin, just me and the dog.

Hope you had a good break. Looks like it. Was only a quick 6 dayer for me inc 2 days travel. I hate the drive home although the Hyden road trip is better than the Great Eastern Motocross track. I am going to have to move down to the SW as I have spent more time down there in the last 3 years than anywhere else.
BTW Nice truck.
