I have owned my cargo for about 15 months, we use it as a family car.
I am slowly modifying it to suit our needs as the wife has bad mobility issues, size is great for carrying scooter, wheelchair etc.
I am trying to keep all the modification as bolt on so I can return it to standard.

G'day Erik and welcome to AULRO. Plenty of knowledge and experience on here so if you have any issues just post it up on here and I'm sure we can be of assistance. Any info on your GS - do you know the ARN (military registration). It looks quite tidy from the side shot.

Morning, ARN 50748, I have been browsing for about a year and agree that their is a heap of knowledge and views, to the degree it would be hard to do something no one has done before.
That is the best thing I find, you get plenty of ideas of the things you can do and know if it will suit your needs, you don't have to think of the idea then come up with the time and money to see if it works.
Back to the family wagon/ute. I have the canopy for it which is handy when we go to Melbourne for the wife's treatment. Three dogs, a cat and all the wifes aids fit perfectly, the only downside is that there is plenty of room for the wife to shop.
The wheels and tyres I got 5 from eBay for $200 and a new rim and second hand tyre for $150, so no more tubes for everyday running, still have the genuine ones for large weight carrying.
The side steps I modified of an old disco to make getting in and out easier.
Looking at a power and gearing change, as I carry weight (firewood, manure etc) I feel if I change only the gearing the clutch won't like it.
Then I would like to remove some leafs and put airbags in so I can adjust the rear suspension to suit the load, rides beautiful with weight but I am to old for race car ride when empty.

Welcome to the forum.
Some interesting ideas there.
As you are not going to be carrying the weight, removing a few leaves from the springs and a diff ratio change sounds like a good idea. Keep us informed how you go with that. I'm very interested. I'd like to get a 4x4 FFR to use more regularly but, failing that, a 6x6 GS with taller difs and softer rear springs sounds like a good option.

Lots of info on here about tribe mods for the 4bd1 as well. They can really get the best out of the motor
