2014 Freelander SE GPS Navigation

Hi All!

I just took delivery of a 2nd hand 2014 Freelander SE and although there is a navigation button on the console, unfortunately it does nothing!(?)

I received a quote to have the navigation installed ($AU1250!!!), but am wondering what is involved in doing it myself, as this seems quite steep for what it is.

Has anyone done this themselves, or is it even possible? It doesn't feel like it would be too difficult, with the correct components.

I wouldn't bother. Google maps on your phone has more functionality, and connects to your car speakers through Bluetooth. Spend the money on a phone cradle with a charger.

Need to change the head unit, add the GPS antenna, edit the CCF to activate it, and most likely buy an AUS map since you won't find a head unit for sale in this country.

But if you're doing all that, might as well go all the way with the 825W Meridian surround and DAB+ digital radio as well.

Oh! I didn't think it would require a whole new head unit! Sounds like a nightmare then, since all I was thinking was a gps antenna, hacking the nav option to on, and getting a map of Oz!
