Hi,

This is now happening on every trip I do, after some bumpy off road driving the Traction Control, Hill descent control and ABS lights warning lights comes on. And they stay on until the computer is reset or the battery is disconnected. Where is the best place to start searching for this problem?

Thanks

Hi Entertainer
Which model/year????
Do you have an aftermarket CDL????
In my 99 TD5 Disco I fitted my own CDL lever. If you lock the CDL with engine running ABS/TC is retained,if you stall the engine then restart with the CDL engaged the ABS/TC are disabled until you restart with the CDL unlocked.
Not sure about the Hilldesent control light.
If you give the vehicle a big enough bump its possible to trigger the inertia switch, wich kills everything,on the TD5 Disco the reset button is on the LHS firewall.
We were out on a trip once and Frenchie hit a rock pretty hard at speed, triggering his hazzard lights, apparently that is to do with the inertia switch,a restart resets the computer.

The ABS diagnostic procedure and error codes are on the Rovers North site.
Just Google Rovers North on the Google world setting.
It gives you all you ever wanted to know.

disco II, 1999 with AIR.
Where on the fire wall is this reset switch, inside the care or in the engine bay, left or right.?
I installed a wrecked CDL into my disco, this happened before the installation. On my trip around australia, this is before I installed the CLD, I was driving the Holland track (great track) and the Diff lock light came on. This was obviously a shock a I did not have a CDL. The landy dealers at ... helped me and when we cleaned out the censor it was all fine. The CDL light never comes on unless I now engage the newly installed CDL. I'll take a look at rover north.

Hi Entertainer
If it does stop the reset switch is in the engine bay LHS on the firewall.
Being a 99 with a fitted CDL you have the added bonus of being able to disable ABS/TC. Start the vehicle and engage the CDL,you will get the CDL light, now turn the car off.Now restart, you will see the ABS/TC lights come on,they are now disabled.UNLOCK the CDL,turn the car off, restart and all will be normal.
Try and see how you go.

Er if you push the "technical tips"button on the LH it takes you here
http://www.roversnorth.com/LRinfomenu.html

And the ABS code acrobat is about half way down the page.

Where do you get the female plug to bridge the connection? It is probably going to be cheaper to go to my LR service shop and have it checked out. I always take my laptop with on trips for using moving maps and the PDF might just come in handy some day.

Thanks for that...

One more thing, can someone explain in 'n bit more detail where to find the reset switch? Is it the black switch just behind the turbo on the fire wall?

Hi Entertainer
Thats the one.
Have a look in the owners manual,it tells you all about its use.The call it the "inertia switch".Its main use is to cut off the fuel flow in advent of an accident, but a decent off-road bump can set it off.

My thoughts would be a faulty ABS sensor, usually the left front is the first one to go, if this is not the problem then it could be loose wires or connection to the ECU under the dash they can come loose with alot of touring miles.

Squealing brakes will trigger this fault code too, i know this because it happened to us, as well as all of the above too https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ .
