Hi Guys
SVX is having clutch problems. Hydraulic I'd reckon. After a while one cannot select a gear. Pumping up the clutch will eventually do the job. So it will be either the master or the slave. Finally found the bleed nipple - Oh dear! Will attempt a bleed and see what happens. Have noted that once pumped up, and a gear selected, the damn thing holds pressure and doesn't slowly engage. So no bleed back.
Anyway, main question here is: Is there any advance on LTB00477/2012 dated 06Aug12, and the clutch kit LRO29894?
I have heard reports of the "new" clutch plate not being much better than the one replaced. 12 months and similar rattles.
Obviously if one has to go in to the slave cylinder then a new clutch plate becomes part of the deal.......and .....and ???

Hi Guys
Ok. looks like nobody is any wiser than me with regards the Ford clutch and operating system.
So, more grist for the mill for info.
I found the clutch reservoir down a bit. Somewhere between 5 and 10mm below full level. Topped it off and was going bleed. However, I didn’t have any appropriate tubing laying around so was delayed.
Didn’t do the bleed – yet! Decided to drive him around a bit and see??? Well, he worked???? Drove all around the place all day doing errands etc.
Occasionally there would be a “snick” but otherwise OK till late in arvo. Then started to be stiff to move the stick, had to pump clutch up.
It would appear that the difference between “full” and “not enough” is somewhere from 5 to 10mm below the full mark. Not a very wide margin.
I’ll continue to drive him for few days locally and see what happens. Need to get the boat trailer suspension back in, and wheels back on. Then I’ll bleed and see what happens - all provided he continues to work. Ummm having found where the bleed nipple is reckon I might pay to have him on a hoist and have someone else do it. (Ford Transits must have an access hole in the tunnel :0( )

I dont know where they (being J Land Rover) are at with regards to the clutch, I gave up on what genuine part number was what in ref to the clutch.
I've always used the AP branded clutch kit on the 2.4lt and as yet not had any come back or go rattly again, see what JustinC has been using...
When doing job:
*Replace clutch assembly.
*Replace slave/thrust assembly.
*Machine flywheel
*Replace centre diff lock switch (simple While the transfer case/ gearbox is out and down)
and the "oh while you are there" list.
*Inspect/replace adaptor shaft assembly between g/box and t/box. (fit ashcroft kit)
*Rebuild centre diff assembly. (or fit ashcroft ATB )
Regards
Daz
P.S if the slave is leaking it ends up in the inside of the bell housing and wont be noticed for quite some time

All working OK. Had system bled. All worked OK for a couple of days. During this morning's errands wouldn't select 2nd coming down, even doubling. At home wouldn't select 1st, 2nd or reverse with engine running. Had to switch off, select R with clutch in, start and then move. Not happy! $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Oh well :wallbash:

Is your clutch fluid level down? Is there a leak?

No visible leaks fluid level OK ???? Am perplexed.
Took it out this arvo had bad pedal, had to play to get reverse first and second. When parking, had to switch off select reverse and then restart engine. After that stop for a while, All worked as normal???? PITA! With a normal clutch operating system, I'd just pull the lot and overhaul. Oops did forget this sort of clutch slave cyl is the Eurotrash "new normal" :0(

Sound like the master cylinder has a problem with the rubbers. I suggest replacing the master cylinder and changing the fluid , hopefully the slave will be ok.
